GST: Gross GST collections in July remains above Rs one lakh crore

GST Tax: The gross GST collections of both the Union government and states in July 2019 have been estimated at Rs 1.02 lakh crore. GST is a nationwide common goods and services tax applicable on the sale and supply of goods and services. The tax is jointly administered by the both the Union government and states. Of the total collection of Rs 1,02,083 crore, Central GST was Rs 17,912 crore and State GST was Rs 25,008 crore, said the ministry of finance.

During the month, the collection of Integrated GST is pegged at Rs 50,612 crore. This amount includes Rs 24,246 crore collected on import and Cess collection of Rs 8,551 crore, including the Cess of Rs 797 crore collected on imports.

The revenue in July, 2018 was 96,483 crore and the revenue during July, 2019 is a growth of 5.80% over the revenue in the same month last year.

The total number of GSTR 3B returns filed for the month of June up to 31st July, 2019 is 75.79 lakh.

During the period, the domestic component has grown by 9.2% year-on-year while the GST on imports has come down by 0.2% and the total collection has grown by 6.83%.

Rs 17,789 crore has been released to the states as GST compensation for the months of April-May, 2019.
